Johannes Mehserle is a murderer and a cop, a murdering cop (hows that..) He murdered Oscar Grant of Hayward, CA on Jan 1, 2009. Oscar Grant was detained and forced to lie face down on the ground at Oakland, California’s Fruitvale Station a little after 2:00am where he was shot in the back. Another officer was holding Grant down with his knee on his head and neck. Both Grants arms were behind his back. Video footage of the shooting shows Mehserle shooting an unarmed Grant. The murdering cop quit his job on the day he was scheduled to be questioned by BART investigators and exercised his right to remain silent.

The scene began with BART officers questioning and restraining multiple people in front of a crowd of onlookers. Many of these people had cameras and cell phone cameras and were shouting in protest from a nearby train. Several videos captured Mehserle and another officer speaking with Grant.

The Attorney General, Jerry Brown became concerned about the speed of the investigation and sent an observer to the Alameda County DA’s office to encourage swift action. Finally on January 13th the murdering cop 27yr old Mehserle was arrested in Douglas County, Nevada on murder charges. Apparantly Mehserle was in Nevada because he feared for his safety due to death threats. The DA charges that Grant was killed in an intentional, unlawful act. The DA stated that there was no evidence that indicated the shooting was justified. Also remember Mehserle never spoke with investigators concerning the incident which made it more difficult to understand his thought process during the incident.

A 25 million lawsuit has been filed against the BART police dept.
