Keith Slater bought a pair of shoes from a store named Journeys which is owned by Genesco. He later returned the shoes for a refund after finding the same pair for a cheaper price at a different store. Mr. Slater got his money back and a receipt. A disturbing receipt with the word “dumb nigger” printed on it.
By the time Keith realized what was on the receipt the store was closed. However the following day he went back hoping to get some clear anwsers on why something of such terrible magnitude would be on a customers receipt. He never got a decent explanation. He was simply told that the employee entered a “generic code.” Hmm… didn’t know there was anything generic about the term “dumb nigger.”
The U.S. Department of Justice has even investigated this incident and has requested that Mr. Slater contact the NAACP. He has also hired an attorney. Journeys AKA Genesco also fired the employee involved stating that the employee entered the inappropriate statement in a form used to process a merchandise return. Hmm.. sounds like the story changed a bit.. However Journeys AKA Genesco say they profoundly regret the incident. Do they?
Here is the 1st news article in regards to Journeys AKA Genescos statement:

However the story then changed again…
Journeys AKA Genesco released their final statement saying that the employee entered the slur into the computer as part of a fictitious customer record. So…. which story is it Journeys AKA Genesco?

Do you really regret this incident?
They also claim it is the only time that the slur was posted, but.. I wonder if that is because the employee manually entered that or.. people just don’t generally look at their receipts.
