Chandra Levy murder suspect formally booked

Ingmar Guandique has been formally arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of Chandra Levy. Ingmar has been serving a 10-year sentence for attacking two other women at knifepoint in the park about the same time that Levy, 24, disappeared. Her body was found a year later. It has been revealed that Ingmar was a suspect in the months after Chandra disappeared but for whatever reasons he escaped the radar. The Washington Post did an investigation that revealed police work on the case was muddled with mistakes and missed chances from the very beginning.

Chandra Levy’s disappearance was the subject of many news talk radio and tv shows. Careers were built on her case. It was discovered that Chandra was having an affair with Rep Gary A. Condit (D-Calif) and he bacame a tabloid spectacle. He was then voted out of office. From the very beginning he denied any knowledge or responsibility for her disappearance.
